Dads of Collier School

The Dads of Collier School (DOCS) initiative is a vibrant and growing group of fathers and father figures dedicated to supporting each other and fostering a strong school community. Inspired by The Fathering Project, an organisation founded in 2013 by Professor Bruce Robinson, DOCS aims to provide a platform for dads to connect, socialise, and spend quality time with their children and the school community. The Fathering Project promotes positive fathering behaviours and encourages fathers to engage with their children at all stages of life.

At Collier Primary School, the DOCS group was established to create meaningful opportunities for dads to get involved in school life. The group’s key event is the annual camp out on the school oval, a beloved tradition that has grown into a wider program of activities, including one parent and child event per term and two parent-only events each year.

Beyond organising events, DOCS is actively involved in fundraising for the P&C, helping to generate funds for school initiatives and to subsidise events, ensuring the school community benefits from these efforts.

We recognise that families come in all shapes and sizes, and while the group is focused on fathers and father figures, we encourage all parents and guardians to get involved, regardless of family structure.

If you’re interested in joining the DOCS group, attending events, or simply want to learn more, feel free to connect via our Facebook Group or WhatsApp group or reach out to any DOCS organiser for more information.

We welcome all families to join and look forward to seeing you at our next event!
